A Small-Town Story. A Big Dream. A Powerful Journey.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 2: The much-awaited inspirational Hindi film Drop Out is all set to hit cinemas on 29th May 2026, bringing audiences a deeply moving and thought-provoking story of ambition, resilience, and self-belief. Rooted in realism yet elevated by emotion, the film captures the silent battles faced by countless young individuals navigating expectations, failures, and the pursuit of identity.

At its core, Drop Out explores the consequences of misguided academic choices, the burden of family expectations, and the relentless pressure imposed by society. It also sheds light on the often fragile and misunderstood dynamics of teacher–student relationships. Yet, amidst these challenges, the film celebrates the unwavering support of family and friends—reminding us that hope often survives in the most difficult circumstances.

Directed by debutant Omkar Pethkar and produced by Umashanker Yadav, the film is set in rural Uttar Pradesh of the 1980s. It follows the journey of a gifted young boy who finds himself labeled and limited by a system that fails to understand his potential. Refusing to be defined by conventional standards of success, he embarks on a courageous path to reclaim his dreams and rewrite his destiny.

Fresh Faces. Powerful Performances.

The film introduces promising young talents Tanushka Sharma and Uday Singh in lead roles, delivering performances marked by sincerity and emotional depth. They are ably supported by veteran actors Rajendra Gupta and Mushtaq Khan, whose nuanced portrayals add authenticity and gravitas to the narrative.

Music That Resonates.

The music of Drop Out, released by Shemaroo, has already begun to connect with listeners. Composed by Prjval–Param, with soulful vocals by Arun Dev Yadav and Soumee Sailesh, and meaningful lyrics by Dr. Sagar, the soundtrack complements the film’s emotional journey and enhances its storytelling.

A Strong Creative Ensemble.

The film features a talented supporting cast including Sandeep Yadav, Naval Shukla, Preeti Chahan, Amlesh Jaiswal, Sumit Shrivastava, and Shashank Shukla, among others. Producer Umashanker Yadav also appears in a significant role.

Behind the scenes, the film is elevated by cinematographer Indrajeet Kumar, editor Rahul Rajput, executive producer Vivek Yadav, and digital processing by Prashant Dhotre, ensuring a visually rich and emotionally engaging cinematic experience.

A Story That Reflects Reality.

Crafted from a deeply personal and socially relevant perspective, the story by Umashanker Yadav, along with screenplay and dialogues by Omkar Pethkar, is designed to resonate with audiences across generations. It is a narrative that not only entertains but also provokes introspection about how society defines intelligence, success, and worth.

Why It Matters.

In a world driven by marks, ranks, and rigid expectations, Drop Out dares to ask a simple yet powerful question—what if success is not what we have been taught to believe? The film stands as a tribute to every individual who has ever felt underestimated, misunderstood, or left behind.

Drop Out is not just a film—it is an emotion, a mirror to society, and a celebration of courage. It speaks directly to today’s youth while reminding audiences of all ages that failure is not the end, but often the beginning of something extraordinary.
